Impostors Posing As DustRam® Dust Free Tile Removal Contractors

For the genuine article, Consumers should look for the "Certified DustRam Contractor" seal to avoid working with imposters.

One buzzword repeatedly entering the flooring remodel industry conversation is “DustRam®” with the guarantee of dust free tile removal and dustless tile removal.  For anyone who has lived through a remodel, these phrases alone are enough to inspire thoughtful consideration.

Having endless debris and choking on dust for months after a renovation is enough to make anyone pause before starting another demolition.  After hearing about the rapid increase in demand from consumers and seeing the ease of use with the DustRam® System, there have been several imitators who have tried to join the bandwagon.

They claim “virtually dustless,” “clean tile removal,” “clean air,” and so on.  To quote Oscar Wilde — “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.”

While it is flattering there are so many copycats emerging in the dustless flooring removal industry, DustRam LLC would like to educate consumers about the growing fakeness of many who would offer this type of service.

The use of ride-on floor scrapers, negative air scrubbers, fans, water hoses, plastic sheeting, and other methods only reveal their processes will not be dust free.  Ride-on floor strippers can damage walls, baseboards, cabinets, appliances, and especially over-watered or soft concrete subfloors; often costing many several thousands of dollars to repair before new flooring can be installed.

Some flat out try to claim they can remove tile dustless when they cannot.  With little regard as to what is required by way of experience and equipment, impostors posing as legitimate professionals throw up a web site and start advertising services they cannot deliver.

Here are some of the patented DustRam® Equipment manufactured by DustRam LLC designed to fit a Bosch® 11264 EVS Chipping Hammer.

Many, if not most, have little more than a few months experience trying their hand at removing tile dustless.  Because Google and other search engines know their web sites have very little relevance, these imitators are forced to “advertise” and have “pay-per-click” campaigns just to be found by consumers.

Contractors who need to advertise in this manner should be a red flag for the consumer researching dust less tile removal.  If their service is so excellent, then why aren’t they easily found in organic search results?

The contractors with the most experience and the best equipment do not need to rely on pay-per-click tactics.  The online search results speak for itself and can reveal to the consumer volumes about a particular contractors expertise and relevance in their field.  Consumers looking for the best value and experience from a contractor should exercise caution when hiring from an online advertisement.

Imitation contractors use of implements duct-taped to chipping hammers or grinders and then linked to everyday shop vacuums are not up to par with the DustRam® System — where research, design, and trial-and-error of over 12 years have resulted in the most effective and patented dust capture possible.

Virtually dustless floor removal for a 600 square foot project can leave 12 or more pounds of dust circulating in a home. Certified DustRam® Contractors and DustRam® Corporate Service Centers do not have this problem.

Now with the DustRam® system of equipment, their worries are over. The licensed contractors and flooring professionals who purchase this equipment are certified with training at the DustRam® headquarters to ensure their crews follow the appropriate procedures when using the specialized, patented equipment; from start to finish, they capture particles of dust instantly.

Below is a video of Flagstone removal performed by Arizona Home Floors, LLC who was the very first DustRam Contractor in the USA.  They were instrumental in the development of all DustRam® System Equipment.

Homeowners can feel secure knowing they have hired a professional who will care for their home as if it were their own, and the process can flow quickly and cleanly during the removal of flooring and installation.

With the use of the DustRam® equipment, the crews are more efficient, and turnaround time is faster. The only prep work required is to clear the floor space in the area being removed.

Plastic sheeting and tape, lining up fans to opened windows, securing air conditioning vents, or watering down the concrete are the traditional methods of the past requiring extra time, money, and intense cleaning of every home surface afterward.

None of these were adequate; with DustRam® System, they are no longer necessary.

Below is a video showing the removal of tile from a pantry lined with food, using no plastic in under 10 minutes!

Regular, everyday dust is troublesome for those with allergies or health issues. It is also detrimental to air conditioning units, electronics, food, and other household items.

The silica dust released into the air at demolition sites, such as a flooring or wall tile removal is not just a contaminant.  The CDC (Center for Disease Control) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) both classify silica dust as a carcinogen impacting the health of any who breathe it in, no matter how small the quantity or limited the time of exposure.

It can take months for the homeowner to feel the dust from a remodel has truly been cleaned, but it can circulate through the house for years afterward. One does not want to hire a company unable to produce a dust free service.

Since consumers are asking for dustless specifically to avoid the contamination of their home, these impostors tout the DustRam® name, using it in advertisements online, claiming to offer dust less floor removal.

  • Many of those considering the purchase of DustRam Equipment are planning not to participate or oversee the day to day operations or maintenance. Unless the owner has a very large flooring operation and has several crew members already trained in flooring removal, purchasing DustRam Equipment or starting this business is generally not a good a fit for either the owner or DustRam LLC.
  • Please include yourself if you are part of the removal process. A crew of 1 person is applicable for someone doing small repair projects or warranty work. A 2 person crew is the smallest crew size for attempting production work but will be very limited at completing large projects within 1 day. The optimum size is 3-5 crewmembers. DustRam does not recommend crew sizes larger than 6 because of the difficulty in transporting the crewmembers and sizeable number of equipment.
  • We would like your opinion concerning the number of vacuums and crewmembers in a dust free tile removal system you feel is required to remove approximately 1000 sq. ft. of well-bonded red body ceramic tile in one day.
  • We can refer you directly to Anthony Stein at Ascentium Capital for all your equipment financing needs. His email is: anthonystein@ascentiumcapital.com and his phone number is: 480-205-6956

  • It is not uncommon to have many leads coming in from customers who would have never considered tile removal unless they could get it done dust free.
